61 Nights, 2025
The project 61 Nights is inspired by observational data from the final two years of activity of the Abbadia Observatory prior to its closure.
The work consists of two installations.
For the first part of the project, I retrieved historical observation journals from the archives.
I photographed them, transferred the data, and compared it with other datasets, repeatedly verifying and correcting the information.
This process retraces the full sequence of stellar observation carried out by astronomers, as well as the iterative revision of data in order to minimize errors.
The coordinates of stars—subjected to multiple revisions—are reprinted onto he former catalogues of the Abbadia Observatory, which had remained dormant in the archives.
New temporal data is updated over erased traces, creating the impression of continuous time.
