I Wanted to Become an Astronaut, 2023
This work takes the form of a time capsule created from an old brass lens, discovered by chance at a flea market.
My childhood dream of becoming an astronaut functions as a temporal bridge, linking my past and present.
The piece employs analog photographic techniques to visualize distorted memories, observed through telescopes and the refraction of light.
In the past, astronomers recorded the sky using lenses and dry glass plates, which captured light refraction with greater precision than contemporary digital technology.
Through this work, I sought to bring this historical technique into the present, while emphasizing the refraction of the lens, the distortion, and the blurring of images.
