Night, 2023

It is night.

I love the night.

Darkness falls,
and the stars awaken.

Night is the moment when the universe draws closer to its true form,
because the natural state of the universe is darkness.

The universe is unimaginably vast, and the stars are embedded within it like tiny points.
The distances between them are measured in light-years.
And so these small, point-like stars emit delicate light,
which travels through immense darkness like a fine net.

Then what does it mean to see the universe?

To see the universe is to look into a dark and empty space.
Though imperceptible to human senses, faint traces of the Big Bang’s light are scattered throughout the universe like a net.

When we look at the night sky,
we are always witnessing the history of the universe—
across time and space, embracing both the distant past and the present.

If I look into the distant universe through a telescope,
I may see myself as a speck of dust somewhere in the past of the universe.
In the end, the reason I look at the universe
is to pursue the question of my own origin.

I look at the stars and constantly ask myself:
Where do these stars come from?
Where do I come from?
