The Star Hanging from the Spider’s Threads, 2025

The project The Star Hanging from the Spider’s Threads belongs to a parallel branch of my research, focused on geography, intersecting here with my studies of the sky.

One day, while walking through the Abbadia Estate,
I encountered people cutting down trees.
These were laurel trees, removed because they were considered invasive species.
I collected a fragment from one of these trees.

By studying the geographical transformations of the Basque coastline at the Abbadia Estate—the arrival of new species, displacements, and substitutions—I began to reflect on the infinitesimal fragment of time I inhabit while remaining here.

Historically, spider silk was used as a material for micrometers.
It captures the precise moment when a star appears to pass through its delicate threads.
